Judge Edmund H. Kalil

Honorable Judge Edmund H. Kalil, elected for his first term as Eaton Municipal Court Judge beginning in January 2022, was born in Utica, New York. Judge Kalil graduated from Westmorland High School in 1981 and received a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Niagara University in 1985. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law and was admitted to practice law in 1989.

Judge Kalil began his professional career in April of 1987 as a legal intern with the Preble County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and continued as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney until September 1993. From 1993 until his election, Judge Kalil owned and operated a private practice in Eaton, Ohio handling a wide variety of family law, civil, and criminal defense cases.

In addition to running a successful full-time private practice for nearly thirty years, Judge Kalil has served on a number of boards, including the Preble County Mental Health Board, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce, and the Preble County Republican Central Committee. Judge Kalil coached Soccer Association for Youth (SAY) soccer for fifteen (15) seasons and was the announcer for the Twin Valley South Varsity Girls Soccer team. Judge Kalil currently participates as a member of the Sons of American Legion, West Alexandria Squadron 322; is a lifetime member of both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Ohio Gun Collectors Association, and proudly serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge counselor for Boy Scout Eaton Troop 78.

Judge Kalil married his wife, Bertha in 1991. Together they raised three (3) children, and now enjoy spending time with their six (6) grandchildren.
